We offer many leagues that accommodate a wide range of curlers. So, whether you’re a recreational player or someone competitive, if you’re 6, 106 or somewhere in-between, the Metcalfe Curling Club is sure to have a league suitable for you.
Monday & Tuesday Evening Fixed League
Teams register and play together for the entire season and are seeded into divisions. After each draw, teams move up and down between the divisions. There are four complete draws, followed by playoffs.
Games are played on Monday and Tuesday evenings at 6:45 and 9:00 PM. Depending on the number of registered teams, some games may be scheduled for Sunday afternoons or evenings.
Wednesday Evening - Ladies
Wednesday Ladies' League offers fun and friendly curling for all levels and promotes good fellowship. Teams are set up by draw chairs to support a positive learning environment with plenty of social time following games.
Games are played on Wednesday evenings at 7:00 PM.
Thursday Evening - Men
Thursday Night Men's League is for male curlers of all experience levels. The league offers five draws, each forming teams based on seniority and skill level to balance the teams for fairness.
Games are played on Thursday evenings at 6:45 and 9:00 PM.
Friday Evening - Mixed
Are you new to the area? Would you like to meet new people? The Friday night league is the ideal mixed, social league for new curlers, curlers with limited experience, and experienced curlers seeking additional on-ice time. We encourage new members and all levels of curlers to participate in this very fun league. Players are assigned positions on a team based on their experience.
Games are played on Friday evenings at 6:15, 8:00 and 9:45 PM, depending on the number of teams.
Sunday Afternoon - Open Doubles
The doubles format is two players per team, and we welcome any combination of partners (male/female female/female, male/male) and singles to sign up for the league. The game is much quicker than a standard curling game - an entire game can be played in under 90 minutes. Each team throws only five rocks in each of the ends. This format helps players develop unique skills and strategies.
If you are new to Doubles Curling… no problem! Curlers of all skill levels can play.
Games are played on Sunday afternoons at 1:00 PM and 2:15 PM.
Monday / Thursday Daytime
Open to full members and members of Metcalfe Daytime Curlers. This group hosts several friendlies with other local curling throughout the year and will arrange Christmas and end-of-year luncheons for its curlers. Coffee, tea, and juice (and the occasional snack!) are available after all games. Daytime curling is scheduled for Monday and Thursday mornings at 8:50 and 11:05 AM. Curlers may register to curl on a single day or both days.
Little Rocks (Ages 7 - 12)
Curlers and parent volunteers are involved in teaching our future curlers. The emphasis is on fun while learning the basics of this great sport. There are many special events like “bring a friend,” Christmas party, bonspiels and the like, and it is almost as much fun for the parents to watch as it is for the kids to play!
Little Rocks is scheduled for Sunday afternoons from 9:00 to 10:30 PM.
Bantams / Juniors (Ages 12 - 19)
While continuing the fun of Little Rocks, this program is the next step as a competitive curler. There are opportunities for bonspiels in other clubs.
Bantams / Juniors is scheduled for Sunday mornings from 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM
